Claire Bradley BA, MSc, MA (European Law)

About Claire

As well as her professional CILEX qualifications, Claire holds masters degrees in both Business and Law and is currently working towards her PhD in law.

Following several years as an in-house legal advisor at various organisations, during which she developed a particular interest in EU law, Claire branched out into academic teaching. In 2004 she founded European Law Monitor, a not-for-profit organisation that formed part of the EU's Europe Direct network.

From 2006-2012 she was a registered expert under the European Commission's TAIEX programme, training judges and prosecutors from the new Member States on varied aspects of EU law. She gave lectures, seminars, and ran workshops in Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Lithuania, Poland, and Turkey. She also delivered a presentation to the Bulgarian National Assembly on EU infringement actions, and a lecture on EU Social policy to 300 people from the Turkish Ministry of the Interior.

Since 2009 she has held a wide variety of teaching, research, and course development roles at several institutions:

2009-2017 Lead Law Lecturer and Course Developer for International College Portsmouth teaching Contract Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, English Legal System, Legal Skills, Legal Ethics and Business Law.
2010-2011 Lecturer/Unit Coordinator at the University of Portsmouth covering the International Trade module
2011-2014 Distance Learning Tutor - RDI teaching Legal Research Methods module on the Masters in Maritime Law, and several EU law courses
2011-2014 Course Author and Course Reviewer authoring the learning materials for the Comparative Law research project, and the Law and Ethics module, co-authoring the Law and International Trade module, and reviewing the European Law module.
2013-2015 Law and Business Lecturer – University of Sussex/Studygroup teaching Introduction to International Law, Law and Legal Issues, pre–Masters Research project, Business Law, several Business and Management modules and an Introduction to Business module, which also included teaching Business Planning
2016 Researcher - Hansard Society working on how the Sense4us 'big data tools' project conducted by the University of Southampton could be integrated into the EU consultation and legislative processes
2017-2019 Module Author - Arden University authoring Level 5, 6 and 7 modules on Legal Research Methods, Approaches to Business Research, Business law, and an International Commercial Law module.
2018-2019 Research assistant - University of Exeter working on a project entitled "The ABC of Online Disclosure Duties: Towards a More Uniform Assessment of the Transparency of Consumer Information in Europe"
2018-2021 Research Assistant - Martin Luther University (Halle) Germany researching all aspects of EU cross-border insolvency law, identifying previous uses of insolvency protocols in multiple jurisdictions and identifying the jurisdictional issues and human rights issues that a European Model Protocol might trigger, and editing the resulting book which was a deliverable of this EU funded project
2018 onwards...
