Introduction to cross-examination
In this section of the website we are going to be looking at cross-examination in a reasonable amount of detail, including:
- Identifying the "Golden rules" of cross-examination, established by a number of legal authors.
- Detailed guidance on cross-examination.
- Identifying Prem's general guidance on cross-examination.
- Looking at the detail of cross examination techniques, largely drawn from the authoritative work Prem's Cross-Examination, which includes both explanations of the different techniques and also stories, drawn from actual cases, where these techniques have been used. The stories are often quite funny, and they really help you remember the different techniques, which is why I've used this source in particular. This section gives:

These are cross-examinations drawn from some of the best legal orators of all time, or which are important as legal history. Where possible, I have tried to link Prem's explanations of cross examination techniques with the actual examples in this section, so you can see the techniques applied.
